Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6: the sword smith village arc paints a bleak picture of our heroes struggling against the demons. We have two new Hashiras and two new demons in the Sword Smith arc. The Mist Hashira ( Muichiro ) and the Love Hashira ( Mitsuri ) have not demonstrated the full extent of their abilities yet. We suspect there’s quite a lot more to what they’re capable of. The two new demons in question are Hantengu (Upper Moon 4) and Gyokko (Upper Moon 5). If two Upper Moons weren’t enough, Hantengu splits himself into four equally powerful demons.
Demon Slayer season 3, episode 6 recap
Previously Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya were battling against Hantengu, while Muichiro faced Gyokko. Tanjiro has unlocked a new flaming sword-style ability with the help of Nezuko’s exploding blood. Muichiro continues to be trapped inside the water bubble.
Episode 6 starts with the revelation that Genya has turned into a demon. Yet he remains in his senses.
Tanjiro from his previous experiences has arrived at a stark realization. The demon capable of splitting itself shall only be defeated by the simultaneous decapitation of all four of its heads at once. Consequently, the trio achieves this but the demons are still able to regenerate. This is when Tanjiro picks up the scent of another. He alerts Genya and Nezuko about the presence of the 5th demon. Thus they must also slice the head off of the fifth demon to defeat it. Genya finds the demon in a miniature form, and yet he is unable to strike or damage him with bullets. The remaining four rush to protect this seemingly weak demon. Tanjiro reaches Genya while Nezuko is fending off the rest. The scene breaks while Tanjiro is about to use the new sword-style ability he has stumbled on.
Genya’s past: Aren’t you going to be a Hashira?
Genya was the second oldest after Sanemi ( the wind Hashira ). As a child, his father was abusive and his mother had to take care of the entire household. Suddenly, one night his mother turned into a demon and slaughtered all the children excluding Genya and Sanemi. After this Sanemi killed his mother ( turned demon ) to protect Genya. In shock, Genya called Sanemi a murderer. He regrets this very much. Their relationship became strained after this tragic night but Genya still looks up to his older brother. Thus, Genya’s ultimate goal is to make Sanemi acknowledge him. Sanemi has not made this easy even going to the lengths of saying ” A scum like you cannot be my brother. Quit the Demon Slayer Corps”. Genya wishes to become a Hashira to prove his worth.
Summary
By far in Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6 Tanjiro’s side and the demons seem to be on equal footing. Whether or not Tanjiro can slice the fifth demon’s head off will determine the course of the battle. Mitsuri is out in the village protecting the remaining few sword smiths. Muichiro, as far as we know, is still trapped. He continues to be calm and composed and does not show any signs of struggle yet. Will Tanjiro be able to chop the demon’s head off? Or will his sword break as well? What are they going to do with Genya who seems to have turned into a demon? Does Tanjiro have enough firepower remaining to keep up his new incredible swordplay? A lot of questions left to be answered awaiting episode 7.
