Gotham Knights is an upcoming role-playing video game by WB Games Montréal. The game is based on DC Comics and features the characters of Batman and his supporting cast. Though it takes its title from the comic book series Gotham Knights, it isn’t an adaptation of it or any other comic book series. The game will take place after the apparent death of Batman and Commissioner Gordon. This leads to his former partners coming together to keep the peace in Gotham and also investigate Batman’s death. The Court of Owls will serve as the primary antagonists, with their brainwashed assassins called Talons, clashing with the characters in the game.

Characters – Gotham Knights

So far, four playable characters have been confirmed. Players will control the characters of Batgirl and the former Robins – Nightwing and Red Hood, and the present Robin through the course of the game. Each character will have its own unique ability, and players can switch from one to the other.

Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of deceased Commissioner Gordon. She had helped Batman as the Oracle when she was in a wheelchair but has now recovered. She’ll be fighting as Batgirl, using her tonfa and her years of training in combat.

Nightwing was Batman’s first Robin, Dick Grayson. He has mastery in acrobatics and has been fighting crime on his own for years now. He fights with his signature Escrima Sticks and is a natural leader.

Red Hood is also a former Robin, Jason Todd. He’s incredibly unstable, which comes from the fact that he was forcefully resurrected by Ra’s al Ghul. Though he too wants to fight crime, he disagrees with Batman’s methods and is therefore incredibly murderous.

Robin is Tim Drake, Batman’s protégé and a young prodigy. He truly believes in Batman’s mission and looks up to him. He is skilled in stealth combat and possesses all of Batman’s gadgets, and is almost as skillful as Batman himself.

Gameplay – Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights will be an action role-playing video game that will be featured in an open-world Gotham City. The game will be featuring both single-player and multiplayer cooperative mode. In single-player, players will inhabit the Belfry during the day and choose any character from the playable characters. After playing through the night, they can switch to a different character when they inhabit the Belfry again. In co-op mode, two players can play the game at the same time, either dropping in or out at any time. The two players can even select the same character at the same time.

Release Date

The original release date of Gotham Knights was in 2021, as shown in Fandome 2020 when it was announced. The game then got delayed to a 2022 release date, as announced in Fandome 2021. The game will be released on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and also compatible PCs. As of now, no official release date for Gotham Knights has been announced yet.
